About the Role
St Vincent's offers bespoke training programs for early careers Nurses providing the foundation for a long and fulfilling career in the Mental Health sector. St Vincent's Mental Health provide ongoing specialist treatment and support to meet the identified needs of consumers who suffer with a serious mental illness and associated high level of recovery support needs in the cities of Yarra and Boroondara. During your Graduate Mental Health program, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills in a supportive environment, working closely with your preceptor/ mentor and the dedicated Mental Health Education Team with the opportunity to participate in regular group supervision.
Duties include (please see position description for further duties):
- Supporting consumers throughout their recovery journeys and working alongside the multidisciplinary team
- Actively upholding a culture of hope by using optimistic language, supporting people and celebrating consumer's recovery efforts;
- Supporting consumers with available resources to achieve their recovery goals through education and support around medication, coping strategies and symptom management
- Actively challenging stigmatizing attitudes, discrimination and social exclusion in line with the Recovery Model of Mental Health Care.
- Participating in consumer assessment, care planning and discharge planning.
- Participating in the relevant early careers program including attending required study days and achieving the required competencies to successfully complete the program.
The classification for this position will be NP11 ($67,527 per annum pro rata)
Your Contribution:
Graduate Nurse, Mental Health
- Degree in general nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Current Nursing Registration with AHPRA
- Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain
