ABOUT THE ROLE
AHA has a 12-month full-time employment opportunity for a Graduate Officer to join the Australian Veterinary Emergency Plan (AUSVETPLAN) and Emergency Animal Disease Response Agreement (EADRA) programs. Reporting to the Head of program - AUSVETPLAN, the Graduate Officer, plays a key role in the support and coordination of project activities including planning, budgets, policies, procedures, reporting and stakeholder engagement. This role will liaise with a range of AHA stakeholders including government departments, livestock industries and veterinary professionals.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Providing project support to the AUSVETPLAN and EADRA programs including coordination, administration, analysis and reporting to enable the effective execution of the program activities.
- Record data and information within the program / project databases to maintain project interdependencies and enable project reporting processes.
- Use project management methodology to support training projects and activities being delivered within time, cost, and quality parameters.
- Support AUSVETPLAN and EADRA projects to deliver quality outcomes that align with budgets and timeframes and with AUSVETPLAN and EADRA reporting commitments.
- Maintain awareness and proactively manage potential risks and propose innovative and practical solutions and risk mitigation measures.
- Work cooperatively with stakeholders, to accomplish AHA objectives to build and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships and achieve results.

Total remuneration for this position is from $63,654 (including super) and will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s level of experience.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Tertiary qualifications (or currently studying towards) in Agriculture, Science, Animal Science or related fields.
- Sound time management and organisational skills whilst managing conflicting priorities.
- Creative and independent thinker with the ability and confidence to propose solutions to complex issues.
- Sound interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Sound planning skills and/or experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively with leaders and colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work both under instruction and independently.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships and networks with members and key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated resilience and ability to adapt to, and promote, change.
- Commitment to deliver excellent customer service.
- Proficient in Microsoft Teams, contemporary office software applications, internet communication tools and database administration.
Desirable
- Experience in the Australian agricultural, biosecurity, or emergency management sectors.
- Experience in supporting the delivery of training programs.
