Project & Asset Accounting Officer

Role Overview:We are seeking a skilled Project & Asset Accounting Officer to join our government owed client for a position based in Canberra or Brisbane locations. The primary focus of this role is to support the Project & Asset Senior Specialist in managing project and Asset Accounting tasks, including capitalisations monitoring of assets under construction. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers and Financial Analysts to ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and External Reporting requirements.Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Project & Asset Senior Specialist in providing accurate and timely reporting.
• Provide accounting support to project managers, asset managers, and other internal stakeholders.
• Maintain Work Break Down Structures in SAP in collaboration with project managers.
• Monitor Assets Under Construction, including liaising with Project Managers and Asset Planners to review and assess capitalisation timelines.
• Assist with year-end processing and external audit activities.
• Process asset capitalisations, disposals, fair value changes, and impairments for assigned portfolios.

Key Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience (minimum 3 years) in business and financial operations within a large commercial organisation or accounting firm.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
• Sound knowledge and practical application of accounting standards, finance management practices, and statutory reporting.
• Accredited membership with a professional accounting body in Australia (CPA Australia, CA ANZ) is desirable.
• Experience working with SAP is preferred.
• Advanced Excel Spreadsheet skills.
