About the roleThe
Graduate Research Development Advisor (
Professional Skills), working under the direction of and reporting to the
Graduate Research Development Manager, will contribute to the design and delivery of innovative training programs and resources that facilitate the
Professional Skills development of
Graduate Research (GR) students.
Key accountabilities include:Design, develop and deliver or coordinate
Professional Skills development activities including, but not limited to, training workshops and seminars, in face-to-face, online, and blended modes, that are driven by current knowledge of research and best practice and are in alignment with the
Graduate Researcher Development Framework.Work in consultation with the
Graduate Research Strategic Programs Manager, Strategic Programs Coordinator (Industry), Liaison Coordinators (
Graduate Research) and Associate Deans (Research Training and Performance) to understand the unique training and development needs of dedicated cohorts and to coordinate targeted development opportunities.In collaboration with academic staff, identify appropriate educational strategies for embedding advanced
Professional Skills for
Graduate Research students and develop aligned resources to support these strategies.Connect
Graduate Research students with professional development opportunities and career services across the University, such as the Macquarie Incubator and the Career and Employment Service, working with the providers of these services to tailor offerings for GR students.Conduct consultations for
Graduate Research students face-to-face, online, or by phone, and with key partners, academics and stakeholders.Triage complex and ‘at risk’
Graduate Research students to support services, as appropriate.Comply with relevant EEO and WHS regulations.Perform any other duties as required and appropriate for this classification.

Graduate Researchers through their candidature. Selection CriteriaPostgraduate qualification (PhD desirable) and/or relevant experienceAn understanding of research training in the Australian Higher Education sector especially the professional skill development needs of candidatesProven experience designing and delivering skill development workshops, presentations, seminars, and other training activitiesProven experience in using diverse and emerging educational technologies and strategies in face-to-face, online, and blended learning environmentsExperience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholder groups, including those in university careers and employment services and/or Work Integrated Learning unitsHigh level of interpersonal skills, including exceptional written and verbal communication, and ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholdersProven experience in developing and implementing evaluation processes to support effective outcomesExcellent computing and presentation skills, including a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of programsSpecific Inquiries: Juliet Lum – Development Manager,
