Southern Oil Refining (SOR) operates two oil re-refineries providing a cradle-to-cradle recycling solution for used lubricating oil generated within Australia. We receive waste oil from commercial and industrial sites nationwide, including auto mechanics, shipping ports, mines, and power stations. From the re-refining process, SOR produces and distributes as-new base lubricants, fuel oils, and bitumen components.
Due to continued success in this sector, both sites require a Chemical Engineering student to join the operations team. Our Southern Oil Refineries (SOR) site is based in Wagga Wagga, NSW, and our Northern Oil Refineries (NOR) site is based in Gladstone, QLD. For this position, the applicant must be willing to relocate to either our NSW or QLD facility (shortlisted applicants will be able to discuss preferred work location).
Initially reporting to the Refinery Manager, you will spend time working in operations, process monitoring/optimisation and small projects across various endeavours within the business. This role provides opportunity for varied experiences, learning, and career development. You will be working alongside an intimate and supportive team of engineers, scientists and operations staff.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Daily process performance and failure monitoring
· Plant optimisation for yield & throughput maximisation, and energy efficiency
· Engineering design and management of small scale projects
· Provide leadership, knowledge and mentoring to operations staff
· Review and updating of standard operating procedures
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
· Bachelor's Degree or higher in Chemical/Process Engineering with 0-5 years of industry experience
· Enthusiasm, focus and willingness to "roll up the sleeves" when required
· Capability to work autonomously and within teams
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent interpersonal skills, leadership potential is a must
Successful applicants will be provided housing upon relocation for up to 3 months.
