Grid Connection Engineer - Renewable Energy

Brunel are working closely with a global, leading, Renewable Energy EPC company who are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer seeking a dynamic leadership role in Grid Connection for their Brisbane office. This is a fantastic opportunity to make an impact in the Renewable Energy sector and contribute to the development of sustainable energy solutions.

• Lead and manage Grid Connection projects for solar farms, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and wind projects.
• Oversee the design, construction, and commissioning of high-voltage substations.
• Facilitate generator connection, registration, and commissioning in compliance with Australian and New Zealand market requirements.
• Utilize power system modeling tools (e.g., PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory) for project analysis and planning.
• Conduct harmonic calculations and contribute to harmonic filter design and operation.
• Have hands on knowledge of the Grid Connection application process and working relationships with AEMO and NSPs.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering a must.
• Proficiency in power system modeling software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, or PowerFactory.
• Strong background in high-voltage substation design, construction, and commissioning.
• Previous involvement in solar farm, BESS, or wind projects is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in generator connection and commissioning within the Australian/NZ market.
• Familiarity with harmonic calculations and harmonic filter design/operation.
• Well versed in Grid Connection compliance with AEMO and NSPs.
