Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Group Buyer and Merchandising Manager to join our management team at the White’s IGA Support Office. The Group Buyer and Merchandising Manager will play a crucial role in shaping our product offerings, optimising supplier relationships, and driving sales through strategic negotiations and merchandising initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategically negotiate supplier terms and trade agreements to enhance profit margins and drive business profitability.
- Collaborate with the Business Analyst to identify and implement promotional buys and range reviews aimed at maximising sales and margins.
- Cultivate positive relationships with trading partners and suppliers, leveraging industry insights to enhance business performance.
- Negotiate promotions and develop tailored deals and programs to drive sales and customer engagement.
- Oversee procurement activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing of products.
- Identify and implement the procurement of new product lines to meet consumer demands and market trends.
- Coordinate with stores to communicate promotions and ensure successful implementation.
- Conduct category and supplier range reviews, establishing merchandising standards across stores.
- Manage the activation of new products, including marketing initiatives and tastings.
- Optimise inventory management across all stores to minimise out-of-stocks and excess inventory.
- Ensure compliance with all IGA programs and company policies.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience in a Group Buyer position within the independent supermarket industry.
- Strong understanding of Workplace Health & Safety, Trade Practices, and industry regulatory requirements.
- Proven track record in negotiating favourable terms with suppliers.
- Financial management experience, including sales, gross profit, and cost control.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient problem-solving skills and self-motivation.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Advanced computing skills, including familiarity with grocery/POS systems and ticketing software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift up to 20kg.
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Retail Management or related field.
