Role purpose
The Group Financial Accountant will support the Group Finance Manager to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting and transaction compliance across all entities within the group.
Key responsibilities
Support the day-to-day activities of the finance function through:
• Overseeing accounts payable, payroll (AU & NZ) and receivables, ensuring adherence to finance policies and audit documentation requirements
• Act as a liaison for employee, supplier and customer queries
• Approve low value expense claims in accordance with company policy
• Preparation of statutory reporting and compliance obligations eg AU - superannuation, payroll tax, BAS/IAS, FBT, workers compensation. NZ – Kiwisuper, ACC, IRD
• Assist with other tax compliance activities as required
• Liaise with external auditors, tax and other external advisors and service providers
• Identify risks and gaps in internal controls and be a part of formulating solutions, maintain finance policy and procedure documentation
• Contribute to finance systems and process improvements projects
Preparation and delivery of month end and annual statutory reporting for the group including:
• Maintain the general ledgers and fixed asset registers
• Maintain and track non-financial KPI’s and financial metrics
• GL reconciliations and journal entries
• Consolidation of multiple entities across multiple jurisdictions (FX)
• Reconciliation of intercompany loan accounts
• Prepare analysis and commentary on monthly results with reference to budget
• Develop and maintain various finance templates/workpapers to streamline finance processes
• Assist CFO with audit queries and ad-hoc financial statement preparation
Ideal Background...
• CA/CPA qualified
• Minimum 2 years experience in a financial accounting role.
• Advanced Excel skills - pivot tables, data visualisation, data insights - should all be in your wheelhouse.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills – able to articulate financial information to a wide audience
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines – manage your own time effectively
• Demonstrated personal initiative and taken ownership of outcomes
• Lead, develop and mentor junior team members - lead by example!
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Experience working with finance platforms (we use Xero & Employment Hero )
• Willingness to learn all aspects of a complex/multiple-entity business structures
