Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Group Leader to join our team. As a Group Leader, you will play a key role in creating and implementing engaging and developmentally appropriate programs for children aged from infancy to kindergarten. You will work closely with a team of educators to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and education, while promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have the following:
- Completed or be working towards a Diploma in Early Education and Care Services and or the qualifications required by ACEQUA to be classified as Lead Educator in Early Education and Care
- First aid, asthma and anaphylaxis.
- Fire Safety training.
- Food Safety Training
- Child Protection Certificate
- Blue Card
- Minimum 1-year experience in an Lead Educator in Early Education and Care Services role.
Core Objectives:
- Work according to the Code of Ethics of the Early Childhood Australia.
- Work according to the Education and Care Services Regulations 2023, National Quality Framework 2023 and National Quality Standards, Education and Care Family Law and all the regulations under the Children Care and Protection Act 1998
- Comply with policies and procedures.
- Inform the Educational Leader or Nominated Supervisor of all allegations or convictions of a child protection nature against an employee, of which you become aware.
- Ensure compliance with Child Protection Legislation and Policies.
- Advocate for children and families.
- Be aware of government regulations, guidelines pertaining to children’s services and be competent and prepared to assist the Nominated Supervisor.
- Assist with administrative duties as directed.
- Have an actively anti-bias approach which is reflected in interactions with children, families and staff.
- Keep up to date with current developments in the Early Childhood field.
- Have the ability to use basic information technology.
- Provide effective and fair leadership to staff under employee’s supervision
- Maintain accurate records as required
- Participate in staff development and professional learning opportunities as required
- Responsible to the Educational Leader for the supervision of staff and students on placement
- Support a culture of continuous learning in the workplace (including own workplace learning)
- Supervise Assistants in the group and act as a mentor
- Participate in team meetings, conferences and training courses when required
- Submit a monthly article for circulation in the college newsletter
