As the Group Manager Export Control, you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation and management of an Export Control management system across the Qantas Group to ensure ongoing compliance with Australian and offshore Export Control regulations. Specifically, this role will be responsible for the “stand up” of an Export Control management system that ensures compliance with regulations network wide and is in accordance with the Group Management Standard “GMS”.
You will lead the development and delivery of policy and procedures, a risk assessment framework, licence determination and classification, control effectiveness, process management, determination of accountabilities, training and record keeping. A key part of this role will be building and maintaining trusted relationships with key regulators (onshore and offshore) including attendance and representation at industry regulator working groups ensuring Group operations and strategic plans are best represented. The role also requires the identification and implementation of Export Control programs/initiatives that promote compliance and the streamlined cross border movement of controlled aircraft components, to support organisational demands, operational and strategic interests.
What you’ll bring to the role –
5+ years within the Export Control management field
International commerce, economics, policy or international relations or similar, will be highly regarded
Ability to navigate and understand complex legislation requirement
Knowledge and practical experience in of global trade laws and regulations (Including Australian Defence Trade Controls, US Export Administration Regulations) in the defence and dual use environment.
Strong working knowledge of freight operations, Customs clearance and the international supply chain
Demonstrated experience in implementing trade facilitation
Trade and customs consulting/advisory experience
Ability to influence senior stakeholders and build effective relationships with regulatory bodies
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing a management system framework, with particular emphasis on risk management and risk mitigation
Ability to conduct audit of company-appointed brokers and implement strategies to ensure compliance
Ability to develop operating procedures and standards to enable the group to meet its trade compliance and supply chain security objectives.
Ability to interpret border legislation and apply to complex airline operations
Ability to work with high degree of autonomy
