Head Chef (Cottesloe)

An exciting opportunity for a talented Head Chef to lead our kitchen team at North Street Store in Cottesloe!

• Join an emerging food business that is growing in recognition. North Street Store is our first established store, with 3 other locations across Perth (Big Loaf Factory Bakery, Little Loaf, and our newest venue Wards Central Dining)

• Full-time position, weekend availability essential, with sociable hours on offer. We are open Monday – Friday 8am – 8pm and Saturday & Sunday 8am – 3pm.

North Street Store is your go-to neighbourhood corner store that is small but fierce. From the people that started the cinnamon scroll craze in Perth, we also serve our community their morning coffee, artisan breads, baked treats, fresh salads and rolls amongst other quality house made produce, and a punchy chef designed short-order menu to match. The food we produce is real, wholesome, and delicious offered at a fair price to ensure our community is always well nourished. Our mission is to shape a world where people eat better. 

An opportunity has arisen for a driven, passionate and experienced Head Chefto join our team. You must have excellent communication, enjoy working in a collaborative style and have a natural ability to lead and mentor your kitchen team. You will also have a passion for utilising the best seasonal produce locally sourced from small farms and producers to deliver nourishing products to our customers. More about the role

• Creating exciting and healthy recipes for our seasonal menu that will appeal to our local community, and ensuring your kitchen team is producing them to a high standard;

• Manage the face-paced short order section of our menu;

• Manage weekly orders, preparation, stock control and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards;

• Oversee kitchen team culture and performance to ensure they are working in line with company goals and values;

• Rostering to ensure coverage in a cost-effective manner;

• Cost maintenance and waste minimisation;

• Co-ordinating and fulfilling catering orders, including liaising with customers and attending offsite catering events when required.

More about you

• Trade certified Chef with minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent;

• Minimum 2 years’ Head Chef experience (external) or 2 years in-house experience in a Senior Sous role with training. 

• Minimum 5 years’ post-apprenticeship commercial kitchen experience. 

• Strong organisational skills and a calm nature that can deliver high quality products in a busy environment;

• Rostering and experience working to budgets is required;

• Current WA drivers licence is also required;

• Creativity and passion for the food you produce;

• Excellent communication and team-focused attitude.
