We are seeking a Head Chef for our Howard Solomon Residential Estate in Ferndale to lead, motivate and support the catering team and deliver high quality food and service to the residents.
This is a rare permanent full-time, Monday to Friday position (with capacity to cover additional shifts when the need arises).

The role
As the Head Chef you will need to have a solid understanding of the Aged Care industry and take pride in delivering meals that look, smell and taste amazing to contribute towards an enjoyable dining experience which supports our resident’s quality of life.
To be successful in this role you must be able to:
- Prepare good quality food, adhering to dietary requirements (allergies, texture modified, purees, etc.)
- Plan and develop seasonal menus with the residents
- Meet HACCP guidelines, general housekeeping and safety practices, and compliance requirements in the kitchen
- Have a high level of customer service skills and good interpersonal skills
- Stock take and order supplies weekly.
- Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team and the residents
- Motivate, lead and support a team of kitchen hands and service assistants, delegating responsibilities as required

Key requirements
This position requires a self-motivated individual capable of managing their workload efficiently to meet the needs of Masonic Care WA, and should have the following:
- Hold a relevant culinary qualification (Certificate in Commercial Cookery or higher) and a minimum of two years’ experience (preferably in Aged Care)
- Ability to supervise and mentor team members
- Current knowledge of best practice and food safety procedures/ standards and Workplace Health and Safety principles
- Knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards
- Excellent communication skills
Additional requirements
To be eligible to work for Masonic Care WA all applicants must provide the following documents during the recruitment process:
- Current National Police Clearance (no older than 3 months)
- Appropriate evidence to demonstrate right to work in Australia
- Immunisation Record detailing current Flu vaccination and COVID 19 vaccination (minimum of 3 doses)
