Head Of Bookkeeping And Compliance Team

We are seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial, business minded, and passionate Head of Bookkeeping and Compliance in our Sydney Office, no WFH, for an exciting challenge to lead an offshore team of General Accountants based in Manila Philippines. This is a leadership position reporting to the Managing Director in Sydney, Australia.

SME Growth Services provides strategic advice and business services support to up to A$200 million turnover small and medium sized businesses in Australia. SME offers a range of professional services essential to SME businesses, including strategy analysis and development, operations review and process improvement, sales and marketing, management accounting, Bookkeeping and administration, business process automation, and managed IT.
The Candidate
This position will suit a person with the following qualifications:

• Chartered Accountant or Certified Accounting Professional
• With experience in (1) leading and managing an office-based and remotely-connected team of accountants and bookkeepers, (2) end-to-end bookkeeping responsibilities and processes, including Receivables, Payables, Payroll, Fixed Assets, General Ledger and Reporting, (3) use of cloud-based accounting software and ERP systems including Translogix and Ramco, and (4) providing accounting services to businesses of up to $200million turnover
• Results and business oriented, with a strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles
• Attention to detail and the ability to process and analyse large amounts of data using spreadsheets software
• Strong client relation and account management skills as this is a client facing role.
• Experience in a wide range of industries.
• Can work independently and within a team with minimal supervision
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills
• Proven ability to deliver quality results in a timely and efficient manner
• Exceptional organisation skills, disciplined, task-focused, and a “Doer”

Your Role
As Head of Bookkeeping and Compliance, you will develop and lead our team of General Accountants. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Ensure the provision of high quality bookkeeping services (such as processing transactions for sales and receivables, expenses and payments, accruals and other adjustments, reconciliations, end-of-month and end-of-year journals using accounting software such as Myob, QuickBooks and Xero) efficiently and in accordance with agreed Service Level parameters with the client.
2. Lead and manage the bookkeeping staff and ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their duties accurately and efficiently.
3. Provide guidance, training, and support to bookkeeping staff to maintain consistent quality and accuracy in their work.
4. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
5. Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures that ensure compliance of clients with all applicable laws and regulations.
6. Identify areas for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of Bookkeeping processes.
7. Collaborate with other departments, such as finance, operations, and management, to ensure accurate and timely exchange of financial information.
