Categories: Leadership, Commissioning/Content DevelopmentAbout the role:The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is seeking an experienced and innovative Head of Children's and Family to lead the development, commissioning and production of the ABC's Children's and family program slate.The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality, entertaining and engaging content that resonates with pre-school and primary age audiences across Australia. This is a senior leadership role that requires a dynamic approach, exceptional management skills, and a deep understanding of the Children's and Family creative production community.The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Screen Content and be responsible for maintaining and strengthening ABC's position as the home of world class Children's content. This role will work closely with the Head of Screen Content to develop an audience focused strategic content plan for ABC TV's commissioned Children's and Family slate.The role involves:

• Commissioning and delivering high-quality, entertaining, and engaging content across preschool, animation, drama, comedy, factual, gaming and digital, that resonates with young audiences.
• Reviewing and assessing the performance of the Children's and Family slate against ABC TV's strategic intentions.
• Establishing and maintaining best creative and production relationships between the ABC and the independent production community, locally and internationally.
• Identifying, developing and ensuring ABC works with the highest calibre of on and off-screen talent.

About you:This is a senior leadership role that requires a dynamic approach, exceptional management skills, and a deep understanding of the Children's and Family screen and content landscape and the ABC is looking for someone with:

• Significant ability to develop and communicate a clear vision, including ability to develop and implement plans to realise and meet the end goal.
• Highly developed leadership and communication skills with significant experience managing strategic and editorial issues at a senior level; and evaluating situations, decisions and issues to guide actions in the short, medium and longer-term.
• Experience and proven track record at a senior level in the development, financing, commissioning and production of Children's content. Proven contribution at a senior level to programs, which have been successful creatively and with audiences.
• Strong working knowledge of local and international trends; strong relationships and knowledge of local and international production community.
