The Life Actuarial Risk Management (LARM) team deliver reliable information on financial reporting, analysis, risk, capital and value to internal stakeholders. In the life insurance reporting system, IFRS, VNB and local statutory valuations are considered especially complicated. It is LARM’s responsibility to perform and investigate these complex calculations. You will report to the Manager, Group Reporting.
Your Role:
- Investigate, assess and report on the quality of treaty and policy data being used by the actuarial systems to determine reserves and policy liabilities
- Prepare and analyse data from all available sources
- Review applicable components of the Terms of Trade (TOT) to confirm that they are appropriate for use in valuation
- Present on valuation TOT and change analysis to internal stakeholders (including Life 2 and CLR)
- Investigate appropriate reserving techniques including preparation, modelling and analysis of MRA’s reserves and policy liabilities
- Maintain, develop, test and document reserving models, including AASB17, IFRS17, and Solvency II
- Develop and present management information insights from valuation systems
- Investigate appropriate treaty re-pricing insights from existing valuation systems
- Champion risk management processes within the LARM team
- Assist with special projects and other LARM activities
Your Profile
- Studying towards FIAA or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in a Life (re)insurance pricing or reserving environment
- Experience with SQL and VBA
- Experience in life prudential regime in Australia including IFRS17, AASB17 and Solvency II
- Strong technical report writing skills. Production of comprehensive, commercial reports and documentation, including considered opinion and justification of data and content
- Ability to identify, investigate and present to senior management capital management insights
