Job description

Altaira is currently seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Compliance and RTO (Registered Training Organisation) Departments. 

As Head of Compliance and RTO Operations, you will be responsible for ensuring our company adheres to legal standards, ISO 9001-2015 and in-house policies and gaining and maintaining status as a leading Registered Training Organisation (RTO). You will also be in charge of the framework for managing regulatory Compliance and training practices across the business, implementation of training programs, and overseeing the execution of operational processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies
  • Evaluate the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously
  • Revise procedures, reports etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues
  • Draft, modify and implement company policies
  • Assess the business’s future ventures to identify possible compliance risks
  • Review the work of colleagues when necessary to identify compliance issues and provide advice or training
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control
  • Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate
  • Oversee the RTO's compliance with regulatory requirements, including ASQA standards and the VET Quality Framework.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive compliance framework and continuous improvement processes.
  • Coordinate internal audits, manage external audit processes, and prepare all necessary documentation.
  • Ensure that all training packages are up-to-date and meet the needs of learners and industry.
  • Collaborate with educational staff to ensure that the curriculum and delivery methods adhere to compliance standards.
  • Lead the RTO's registration process including initial registration, renewal, and any scope changes.
  • Manage the reporting requirements to regulatory bodies, including AVETMISS data submission and Quality Indicator reporting.
  • Provide expert advice and support to all staff regarding compliance matters.
  • Develop, implement, and review policies and procedures to ensure they reflect current practices and legislative changes.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for staff on compliance-related matters and changes in the VET sector.
  • Liaise with industry partners, accreditation bodies, and government agencies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Compliance Officer or Compliance Manager
  • Experience in risk management.
  • BSc/BA in law, finance, business administration or a related field
  • Professional certification (e.g. Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of the VET sector and the Standards for RTOs.
  • Proven experience in a similar role within an RTO.
  • Excellent knowledge of the VET regulatory framework, including ASQA guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in education, training, compliance, or a related field.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) is highly desirable.
