About the role

Aim:

The Head ofCorporate Giving and Signature Events leads two core fundraising functions, Corporate Giving and our Signature Events program.

This role will work with the GM, Philanthropy to develop and effectively execute Corporate Giving strategies with the aim of securing large partnerships and sponsorships. Overseeing a team of 11, this role is responsible for developing and leading a high performing and engaged team skilled in securing large corporate partners that want to become part of the movement of many and make a meaningful impact in children's health.

Key relationships:

Working with the GM, Philanthropy, this role will lead and execute Signature Events to record breaking results. Overseeing a team of 5, this role is responsible for developing and leading a high performing and engaged team skilled in managing start-to-end large scale events-including Australia's largest Gala-Gold Dinner.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this role is responsible for “running the business” in line with the strategic plan and objectives as set by the Executive Leadership Team. In “running the business”, this role is responsible for leading its team, meeting fundraising targets, monitoring and managing fundraising performance, understand and ensure compliance to policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

Fundraising:

  • Responsible for the implementation and execution of fundraising strategy for the Corporate Giving and Signature Events team with a focus on identifying and soliciting larger and more impactful partners
  • Ensure that corporate approaches, from identification to cultivation, solicitation, closure, and stewardship, are highly strategic and coordinated across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create, with input from GM, Philanthropy, future strategy for SCHF led events
  • Ensure proper management of signature event committees
  • Manage a portfolio of donors (25-50) with the capacity for making 6 and 7 figure gifts
  • Work with direct reports to create yearly fundraising targets
  • Partner with advancement colleagues in support of their engagement and solicitation of institutional funders within their areas of responsibility and actively seek their advice regarding existing relationships and opportunities.
  • Analyse structures and processes, identifying areas for improvement and recommending changes to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

Reporting & systems:

  • Work with GM, Philanthropy on providing timely reports to the SCHF Board and committees.
  • Ensure all work with prospects and funders are responsibly documented in the Foundation’s CRM system in a timely manner.
  • Utilise fundraising data and analytics to provide insights and recommendations on trends, donor engagement, and donor retention strategies.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Operations to ensure accurate and reliable data reporting and analysis.
  • Leverage data-driven insights to guide decision-making and measure the impact of strategic initiatives on business outcomes.

Financial:

  • Prepare annual department budgets and develop multi-year projections as required.
  • Meet and deliver operational budgets.
  • Prepare regular financial metrics and reports for the Board, Leadership Team, and Executive Leadership Team, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Extract and analyse financial and operational reports for department activities.

Leadership:

  • Participate as an active and engaged member of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team to build highly engaged cross functional teams. Be part of the strategy formation and actively participate in the delivery of the strategy.
  • Oversee a team of 13 with 3 direct reports, ensuring the team are engaged and meeting role requirements.
  • Demonstrating leadership, professionalism and customer focused work ethic including a commitment to SCHF vision, purpose, and competencies.
  • Lead and manage the employment lifecycle (i.e., organisational structure, recruitment & selection, performance management, remuneration and benefits, performance improvement plans and exit strategy).
  • Ensure regular communication of results and priorities through regular meetings, including WIPS, one-on-ones and team meetings.
  • Complete periodic meetings with direct reports including performance appraisals (self-reflection, goal setting and reviews), department and 1:1 monthly meeting. Complete team performance reviews within specified time periods.
  • Ensure KPIs are standardised, implemented and effectively monitored in line with performance appraisal process. For areas of underperformance, ensure action plans are in place to improve performance.
  • Ensure to address performance gaps, build high-performing teams, and drive a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Lead change management efforts to support successful implementation of organisational initiatives.
  • Ensure self and all team members have the appropriate training and development opportunities and self-improvement focus.
  • Develop a motivated and effective workforce through the implementation of effective coaching and mentoring strategies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of fundraising experience with experience across the full-fundraising cycle. Transferable skills will be considered.
  • Experience developing, leading and executing fundraising strategy.
  • Experience managing high performing large teams.
  • Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate, be persuasive and develop trust, and manage a variety of internal and external stakeholders across all levels and from varying backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organisational, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to plan and think entrepreneurially and strategically
  • Willingness to collaborate and work as part of team.

Functional / Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Understanding of the challenges and opportunities that come from working in a complex organisation.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to Corporate Giving and Signature Events, ensuring teams are working in an effective and efficient manner to meet targets and goals.
