SalaryAn exciting opportunity exists for a dedicated Head of Department - Humanities to join the leadership team. This is a temporary full-time position commencing 8 July 2024 until 13 December 2024, unless otherwise determined. As the Head of Department, you will be an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team and provides the successful candidate the opportunity to lead a critical faculty within our school.
The successful candidate should have a strong knowledge of, and capacity to lead, the implementation of both the Australian Curriculum and the QCAA curriculum in Humanities. An ability to build and sustain productive relationships with all stakeholders is vital. The ability to work as part of a team to lead the implementation of the whole school teaching and learning agenda is desirable.

Maleny State High School caters for approximately 700 students. The purpose of Maleny State High School is to inspire, educate, guide and support adolescents of the hinterland by providing a school community which promotes learning for living. All members of the school strive to meet and maximise each student's individual potential by preparing for life after school to ensure students leave as positive contributors to a sustainable society. About the Role:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
- Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
