The Head of Divisional Controls, FCO and Fraud Operations is critical in driving risk compliance assurance, awareness, understanding and change. As a key member of the Enterprise Operations DCO Leadership Team, you will contribute to a high-performing culture that values hands on leadership, bring deep risk and control management experience to build trusted relationships across Enterprise Operations. This Head of role will specifically support Financial Crime Operations and Fraud Operations.

Key responsibilities of this role will include…

Reporting to the Executive, DCO Compliance and Risk Delivery. You will work directly with the Executive, DCO in advising and supporting the Divisional Group Executive to complete all risk requirements. This role is primarily responsible for:

  • Leading a team who support the management of risk and compliance obligations, control monitoring, and related management reporting
  • Operational risk and regulatory obligation identification, impact assessment and change within the Division
  • Advising business leaders on the application of the operational risk and compliance management framework, make recommendations and track remedial actions
  • Engaging and managing senior stakeholders to implement and improve business systems and processes through the use/integration of the risk and compliance framework
  • Risk profiling: assisting to identify key risks and design of indicators to monitor, input into Divisional Risk Setting Statements as relevant
  • Designing controls: assisting to identify the right key controls to mitigate key risks and obligations applicable to the business
  • Exceptional communication with the Divisional Leadership Teams and senior stakeholders
  • Providing business specific input and context to: Risk deep dive reviews, Internal Audit reviews, Assurance reports, Action plans for ineffective operational controls
  • Assisting in regulatory responses and regulatory engagement matters
  • Leading key initiatives within the business and engaging senior stakeholders to ensure outcomes are delivered

What skills & attributes will I need?

  • 10+ year experience in a financial crime, legal, consulting, audit, or operational risk role
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of AML/CTF regulations applicable to Australian Banking
  • Extensive, established experience in operational risk management and solving complex problems
  • Comprehensive knowledge of risk management and compliance disciplines
  • Practical approach to solving issues balancing strong commercial acumen within a risk framework
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with an ability to engage, build relationships and influence with ease
  • Understanding of processes, products and systems
  • Thinks broadly within defined strategies and policies to meet business needs.
  • Adapts and determines new solutions
  • Ideal but not essential: proven track record delivering complex projects and change management
