Job Description
As our Head of Energy, you’ll be responsible for developing and executing NEXTDC’s energy procurement and investment strategy. You’ll need great relationships with our customers’ energy teams, our energy suppliers & network operators, and be able to engage power plant developers, as well as relevant government and industry bodies – all in conjunction with our internal experts to drive energy related change and investment within NEXTDC.
Partnering with internal teams, customers, and other stakeholders, will be critical to your success. You will lead the development and execution of a roadmap that delivers NEXTDC’s:
- energy procurement future capability
- investment in sustainable energy generation and storage
- engagement in electrical grid services markets
- evolution of onsite back-up power generation, and
- success with Customers and other key stakeholders
What you’ll do:
Develop and maintain the roadmap for our energy, storage and generation strategy & investment
Lead energy discussions with customers, in order to support their needs and ambitions.
Drive NEXTDC towards 100% carbon free power.
Be a key part of our in-house expertise in greenhouse gas emissions (scopes 1-4), the NEM, AEMO, investment in power & storage
Partner with our Head of Sustainability delivering our sustainable future.
We are happy for this position to be based in Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney.
Qualifications
- Experience in >$100m investment case initiation, development, and approval
- Deep understanding of the greenhouse gas emission management, the NEM & AEMO/AER
- Knowledge of all parts of the electrical energy sector in Australia, and abroad
- Ability to manage discussions and translate perspectives between many different types of stakeholders
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to drive change and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Minimum of 5 years in an Energy generation or storage investment development environment
- Degree qualifications in energy systems/management, infrastructure investment, finance or related
- Large scale and long-term energy procurement and contracting within the Australian market
- Experience in Australian energy markets is essential, international energy markets desirable
