The Organisation
The RSPCA is an independent, community-based charity providing animal care and protection services across the country.  RSPCA Australia, as the federation’s national body, works collaboratively with RSPCA’s member Societies in each state and territory to achieve our mission.   

The national office is a leading source of animal welfare science and works with governments and industries to progress animal welfare across a range of issues. In addition, RSPCA Australia oversees national partnerships and runs the RSPCA Approved Farming Scheme.

Following an internal reorganisation, this position has been newly created to improve the financial and commercial acumen of the organisation to meet its ongoing needs and challenges.

The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO and managing a small team, the Head of Finance and Corporate Services is a key position within the Executive Management team in assisting the organisation to achieve its strategic objectives.  As such the Head of Finance and Corporate Services will be fully involved in all aspects of the business of RSPCA Australia from a strategic and financial levels to deliver on behalf of the organisation and the Board.

The Head of Finance and Corporate Services will provide strategic advice to the CEO and Board of Directors with regards to financial management, IT and risk & compliance.
  
Specifically, the Head of Finance and Corporate Services will be responsible for:

• Providing commercial advice and support to the management team and contributing to senior management decision making
• Assisting with the development of innovative commercial business solutions in line with financial targets and strategic priorities including the analysis of business plans and business cases
• Evaluating commercial performance drivers and employing risk management frameworks and strategies for the organisation
• Establishing and maintaining effective financial accounting controls and systems including ensuring that the finance function is operating at best practice and that all legislative and regulatory requirements are met
• Overseeing/delivering activities associated with organisational financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting (financial, management and Board/Finance and Audit Committee) as well as management of the annual audit
• Overseeing Corporate Services function encompassing finance/administration, IT, risk management and procurement

About You
You will be CA/CPA qualified with demonstrated experience in a broad financial and/or commercial leadership role where you have proven track record working effectively as part of the senior management team, and as a trusted advisor to senior management the Board and Finance and Risk Committees.
  
You will have demonstrated commercial/business acumen and experience in the implementation of strategic and operational plans.
  
Naturally you will have highly developed written and verbal communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills and, of course, a strong alignment of values with the objectives and activities of RSPCA Australia
