Head Of Financial Accounting

 

Due to organisational changes the CFO is looking to appoint an accomplished and driven Head of Financial Accounting if this $2b group. Whilst this is a fixed term contract of 2.5 years the reality is that the volume of work in the pipeline means that it is highly likely that there will be continued work or a permanent position. There is no doubt of the technical nature of this role, however the CFO is looking to appoint a rounded Financial Accounting leader who can motivate, inspire and navigate this team through a period of change. Your role will include but not be limited too;

• Statutory reporting, managing the completion of the annual and half year financial statements for the Group and subsidiaries
• Manage the delivery of accurate and timely information to enable external disclosures
• Work with internal and external auditors, providing information and responding to queries as required
• Provide commercially focused technical accounting advice to the wider business community
• Manage and coordinate the balance sheet, reconciliations process and hierarchies across financial control for the business
• Manage the ongoing maintenance of accounting policies, ensuring their practical and effective application by the business
• Review new and emerging accounting standards, providing advice on the subsequent implications and reporting obligations of the business
• Conduct technical accounting training across the wider business as required
• Review information memoranda, vendor due diligence reports, and other models to ensure accounting risk is adequately addressed
• Lead and develop a team of technical accounting professionals, ensuring a high degree of technical excellence is maintained at all times
• Ensure the team provides first-class accounting advice to the business at all times, underpinned by clear and commercially astute report writing and recommendations

Key requirements:

• CA/CPA qualified, with ideally a minimum of five years’ relevant experience
• Strong technical accounting expertise, gained in a Big Four setting (Audit/Technical Advisory) advising large complex corporate business on accounting issues, or via similar roles held within such a business
• You possess an in-depth knowledge of accounting standards, in particular leasing and derivative accounting
• A confident and articulate communicator, you are adept and interacting with and influencing a senior and commercially astute audience
• Proven experience of leading and developing a high performing finance team

Ideally, you will be CA qualified from within a 'Big 4' firm with a passion for improving processes and working practices.
