Good News Lutheran College (GNLC) is situated on 20 acres in Tarneit, approximately 30km south west of the Melbourne CBD. The College has grown significantly from its opening in 1997 with its first class of Year 12s graduating at the end of 2016. Student enrolments now exceed 1,600 with wait lists for all year levels, and a new campus at Mambourin opening in 2025. The College exists to provide a vibrant and challenging education for all our students through living Christ’s mission, empowering inquiring minds and preparing global citizens.
Reporting directly to the Head of Tarneit Campus – Lisa Robinson, and working closely with the GNLC Principal – Fiona McAuliffe, the Head of Learning is a key curriculum leadership role that develops, coordinates, and monitors the learning programmes across the whole College. The Head of Learning will have proven ability and will lead the development of innovative pedagogy and curriculum delivery. The College sees the responsibility for pedagogical leadership within the College as being a shared responsibility within the Pedagogical Leadership Team. The Team at Good News Lutheran College comprises of the Head of Learning, MYP and PYP Coordinators, Learning Enrichment Coordinator and VCE Coordinator (supported by the Heads of Years).
The Head of Learning is expected to display leadership and to promote creative, innovative thinking among colleagues regarding curriculum, assessment and reporting and promote best practice and to lead the implementation and continued improvement of the curriculum including development of a context specific vision for programmes that are well supported by relevant long and short term goals.
