Head of Network Structures, Facility & Vegetation

About the role

As the Head of Network Structures, Facility & Vegetation you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Network Development Asset and Maintenance (NDAM) Group.

Reporting into the Director of Infrastructure this role is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the facilities, structures, and vegetation maintenance staff to deliver a safe rail network.  The role will manage three disciplines including Civil and Structures, Facilities, Fire and Fuels and Vegetation.

 Key Accountabilities include:

  •  Strategic Direction
    • You’ll provide input into strategic direction of the Structures, facilities and Vegetation disciplines.  This involves aligning group initiatives with function and division group plans.
  • Leadership
    • As a leader, you’ll guide a team responsible for facilities, structures and vegetation management.
    • Your role is crucial in ensuring efficient train services and successful delivery of planned works.
  • Risk Mitigation
    • Identifying and mitigating risks that could impact train services is essential.  This ensures smooth operations and safety.
  • People Management
    • You’ll lead a diverse group of individuals, fostering an engaged and high performing workforce.
    • Collaboration among the discipline is key to achieving this.
  • Stakeholder Relationships
    • Maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders (including Track and Signals Maintenance teams, local government, and community organisations) is vital.
  • Budget Management
    • Managing budgets efficiently ensures alignment with organisational goals and financial targets.
