An exciting and rewarding opportunity is available for a suitably qualified candidate to become the Director of Primary Care Services at Portland District Health.

In this role you will provide strategic and operational leadership for all services, programs and people that comprise the division: Primary Care Service and ensure the development and provision of high-quality and comprehensive health CARE SERVICES in accordance with Portland District Health (PDH) strategic plan, policies, procedures, and budget to achieve the best in health for our communities. You are responsible to lead, direct, plan and manage the physical, human, and financial sources of the division: Primary Care Service to ensure the effective and efficient provision of high-quality and comprehensive health CARE SERVICES, in line with the organisational objectives, corporate and business plans of the PDH and with the policy directions of Victorian Department of Health.

About you:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience working in a public health related field.
  • Post graduate qualification in management or leadership.
  • Exceptional leadership skills and demonstrated change management ability to drive a culture of achievement of organisational objectives.
  • Extensive knowledge of issues and policies affecting community-based health services in Victoria.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop internal /external partnerships that support delivery of range of health services.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage a medium sized operating budget and complex and contentious issues, with high-level critical thinking and sound decision making.

About us:

Portland District Health (PDH) provides an integrated health service for the community. The hospital was established in 1856 on the current site and now provides a comprehensive range of services that include:

  • Hospital based Medical and Surgical services, Medical Imaging (Radiology), Pharmacy and Pathology
  • A 24/7 Urgent Care Centre for emergency treatment
  • Residential aged care for 30 residents at Harbourside Lodge
  • An extensive range OF PRIMARY and community services for the local community

PDH delivers services from a single campus, employs around 470 staff with an FTE of approximately 290, and has an active volunteer workforce. The People and Culture Unit sits within the Corporate Services Directorate, with other Units including Finance, Building Services, Food Services, Environmental Services, Executive Support, Administration and Health Information.
