Head of People and Culture
Sunshine Coast Council | Queensland
Key leadership role for one of Australia's largest Councils.
Lead and shape the HR function with a focus on culture, engagement and productivity.
Live and work on the stunning Sunshine Coast.
Sunshine Coast Council, one of Australia's largest Councils, is seeking an outstanding leader to shape the organisation's HR function and build engagement, capability and a positive workplace culture across the organisation.
Reporting to the Group Executive Business and Performance, the Head of People and Culture leads a team of approximately fifty staff.
The ideal candidate will be an outstanding leader who is capable of transforming the HR function, building engagement and a positive workplace culture, and creating a highly capable, integrated and service-oriented People and Culture team.
Key responsibilities:
Develop an integrated People Plan, creating a clear sense of direction and purpose and driving key HR initiatives, projects and service delivery.
Provide strategic advice to the group executive on HR and people related matters.
Be an architect and guardian of workplace culture, delivering excellence in service and program delivery.
Provide transformational leadership to the branch, positioning the group to deliver on Council's corporate plan and its vision for the region and community.
Qualifications, skills, and attributes
Demonstrated leadership capability in a large and complex organisation, with extensive experience across the range of People & Culture service areas including organisational development, people services and industrial relations.
Demonstrated business partnering skills, leveraging commercial insights to craft strategic and integrated HR solutions tailored to address organisational priorities.
Proven track record leading and building high-performing teams with a focus on performance, collaboration and culture.
An evidence-based decision maker who is aligned to Council's values, is a trusted advisor and has a strong sense of curiosity, objectivity and empathy.
Exceptional verbal and written communication, and presentation skills to operate effectively in a highly complex environment.
Bachelor Degree in a relevant discipline, e.g. Human Resources or Organisational Development.
