Our Company:

BJEI Australia was established in 2021 to build and operate a significant portfolio of clean energy projects across Australia. Sister company, BJCE Australia was formed in 2017, and currently has an operational 284MW clean energy portfolio.

Together, BJEI Australia and BJCE Australia have an interest in over 2GW of renewable energy generation and storage assets that are planned, under construction or in operation across three states, NSW, Queensland and Victoria. 

BJEI Australia aims to build a 3GW portfolio of clean energy assets by 2025 and 6GW by 2030, with the intention of listing on the Australian Securities Exchange in 2024.

Since BJCE’s first investment in Australia in 2014, the Company has prioritised care and respect for the communities and environments where its projects are located.

About the Role:

Due to the growth of the business, we are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager/Head of Business Development to drive our current pipeline and continue sourcing new opportunities.

This role will be actively involved in all stages of development activities, from the initiation of the project to the start of construction for renewable energy ventures, which includes wind, solar PV, and battery storage.

Your duties will include but not limited to:

  • Manage the functions of the Development Team, guaranteeing all developmental activities comply with the company's development standard, including merge acquisitions.
  • Lead and grow the business development team while making sure the team align with company’s business objectives.
  • Contribute to the greenfield renewable development strategy by building a development pipeline, drawing from a strong comprehension of the current market trends.
  • Identify and nurture opportunities for renewable energy that align with the corporate vision and objectives.
  • Constantly develop, maintain and promote the business case for each development project.
  • Develop plans for taking sites through the feasibility studies using relevant consultants and contractors and using internal and external resources to deliver quality outcomes in accordance with company’s development standard.
  • Regularly communicate and present progress reports to high-level management, external stakeholders, and the project team.
  • Deliver the assigned duties within the set timeline, budget, and within agreed quality.
  • Negotiate and secure property and neighbour agreements with landowners for the necessary rights to develop, build, and manage renewable energy installations.
  • Ensure company’s project developed in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Obtain all required third-party approvals to establish and manage renewable energy facilities.
  • Involved in the early stage of the grid connection process.
  • Site checking and meeting when needed.

Who we are looking for:

  • Minimum 7 years relevant working experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in sourcing and delivering utility scale renewable energy projects.
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline. Background in electrical engineering and renewable energy would be preferred.
  • Understanding of the development process including site identification, constraints analysis, grid connection and permitting process in Australia
  • Sound risk management and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in land tenure securing.
  • High level of planning and organisation skills.
