Job description

DESCRIPTION
As the Head of Public Policy (Australia) you will be responsible for partnering with legislators and officials in support of our consumer-centric business model at the highest levels of government and policy-making. You will have an astute understanding of the Public Policy and regulatory environment, and key stakeholders within it. You will be able to coordinate efficiently, effectively, and cross-functionally, across Amazon's business, locally and globally, to develop, align and implement appropriate positioning and engagement strategies. You will lead external advocacy efforts, outreach programmes, partnerships, and initiatives in support of these business objectives. You will coordinate Amazon's engagement with relevant industry associations and wider coalitions, and manage consultancy support. You will be able to manage and drive complex projects, and provide clear and confident guidance, including in situations of high ambiguity. You will be a confident leader, but are also able to operate respectfully and collaboratively within wider regional and international structures.
The Head of Public Policy will work closely with Amazon's Public Policy, public relations, legal, and business functions to establish the Public Policy and advocacy agenda. The Head of Public Policy will monitor and report relevant legislative and regulatory activity, develop positioning and mitigation/engagement strategies, draft collateral, and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives in concert with business objectives.
The Head of Public Policy will work with in-country International Public Policy team members to facilitate high-level meetings for executives and business leaders with key policymakers, association executives, and other relevant stakeholders. The Head of Public Policy will also work with in-country Public Policy team members to determine, maintain, and staff corporate membership opportunities in industry associations and political organizations, as appropriate.
The Head of Public Policy will be willing to travel internationally, based on business need.
Our team operates out of our fabulous Sydney CBD office (conveniently located near many transportation options), and from home (during COVID-19) leveraging technology.
Amazon offers employees a competitive remuneration package, including participation in the company stock plan as applicable. We also look after our people with benefits, such as subsidized private health insurance, superannuation and paid parental leave options, amongst others.
