The ANZ Retail Marketing team is in the process of undergoing transformational change to insource an in-house creative studio. As a result of this exciting change, an opportunity has become available for a lead to oversee the creative and production vision for ANZ Retail Australia.

Leading ANZ's internal creative and production studio, you will have oversight of all creative developed by the studio, aligning to brand strategy, and maintaining brand identity. You will also provide counsel and thought leadership on the production process across all major integrated campaigns.

Using your deep knowledge of MarTech solutions to support creative asset development, workflow and traffic management and asset storage, you will be tasked with improving the quality, effectiveness and consistency of advertising and marketing communication production processes and outputs across all channels.

Deep expertise relating to the production process and creative development is critical to ensure you help nurture, develop, and educate the wider marketing cohort uplifting knowledge and confidence across the function.

A key part of the role is the leadership of a full-service creative team comprising of Designers, Content Leads, Video Motion designers, Account Managers, and Production Specialist to deliver quality creative assets to market.

The development and implementation of the Studio Capability Roadmap is critical as a key objective and focus of the role is to continuously increase the level and type of support, particularly as it relates to digital asset and AV development.

What will your day look like

This role is accountable for:

Creative Direction
• Creative oversight of all assets produced by the studio including internal pitches and proposals, ensuring strategic and visual brand alignment deliver quality outcomes.
• Overseeing art direction from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
• Continuously stay abreast of design trends nationally and globally to drive innovation, differentiation and showcasing these insights to the wider marketing team.
• Interpreting and translating briefs from the marketing team into the studio to begin the creative process to deliver best in class creative efficiently.
• Embodying strong creative vision, innovation, and direction to meet business needs and objectives.
• Presenting ideas and concepts to internal stakeholders with well thought out and justifiable rationale.

Studio Operations
• Investigate, implement, and own MarTech technology to support asset development, workflow management and asset storage.
• Co-ordination of workflow management, resource planning and keeping projects on schedule.
• Act as a liaison between the marketing team and external agencies, facilitating effective communication.

Studio Production
• Collaborating with and providing thought leadership to cross-functional teams on the production process for all integrated campaigns, with the ability to interrogate processes and provide recommendations to achieve a successful outcome in an efficient manner.
• Liaising with production suppliers for production of print and outdoor material, discussing print specs and providing post-production feedback.
• Source estimates and ensure high quality output is delivered on time and on budget.

Business Performance
• Develop a studio roadmap and implement strategies to grow the internal capability across the business.
• Monitor, analyse and report on monthly performance of the team to ensure the in-house studio meets or exceeds business savings targets and translating the economic value into long term strategic financial decisions.
• Administering business practices to create the highest level of efficiency possible, including status reports and team performance.
• Establish and maintain robust processes to ensure risk frameworks are compliant including stringent quality control measures and adherence to quality assurance standards.

Leadership
• Lead, inspire and coach the newly formed ANZ internal studio team setting a high standard for visual excellence.
• Provide day-to-day direction and management to fulfil team objectives and achieve specific goals to maximise efficiency and make improvements as needed.
• Manage and mentor current team with ability to grow the design team to increase overall in-house productivity.
• Lead the team in finding creative solutions to design challenges and remain agile to changing work requirements.
• Uplifting team culture and morale in line with ANZs values.

• Delivery of cost savings by increasing studio capability
• Delivery of cost savings by influencing production efficiencies during the development of major integrated campaigns

• Strong verbal and written communication
• Excellent project management capability to oversee multiple projects running at one time in a high speed environment

What will your bring?

The 'must have' knowledge, skill and experience (KSE) the role requires are:
Commercial acumen: Deep understanding of business performance reporting, interpreting business performance into commercial outcomes, tracking results and translating the economic value into long term strategic financial decisions.
Production Process : Deep knowledge and firsthand experience in agency production processes, across all channels, with the ability to interrogate recommendations to identify opportunities to create greater efficiencies.
Creative Development: Conceptual with strong creative vision, including the ability to deliver creative excellence and craft compelling narratives. Apply holistic creative knowledge which optimises the development and effectiveness of innovative, bold ideas and creative assets, creatively solving problems to achieve customer and commercial outcomes
Transformation: Demonstrated experience in transforming work practices and implementing AI tools
Communication: Ability to communicate clearly, identify stakeholder needs, opportunities and manage conflicting priorities and expectations respectfully with a risk lens.
Negotiation skills: Deep knowledge and firsthand experience relating to the financial aspects of production and the ability to have robust and challenging conversations with creative agencies to drive the best solution and financial outcomes.
Critical thinking: Ability and a love of tackling complex problems then using critical thinking, your network, skills, knowledge, and available data to drive efficient outcomes.
Creative cohesion: Passionate about bringing ANZ's brand to life across all product portfolios in a consistent way.
Agency Management: Ability to partner with other agencies to build effective relationships, thereby enabling effective marketing solutions & shared business outcomes.
Strategic Prioritisation: Ability to review a range of Business Case scoped initiatives; and assessing these against organisational resources to prioritise those with the greatest customer and commercial benefit.
Software skills: Proficient in Microsoft suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Jira, Confluence, Adobe Workfront and Adobe Creative Suite.
Previous experience managing translation: Understanding of various cultural segments, their communication requirements and limitations

'Good to have' knowledge, skills and experiences:

  • Qualifications in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline
  • Proven leadership and coaching capability
  • Experience in leading teams (direct / indirect)
  • Significant track record in delivering well considered strategies that deliver business results.
  • Great conceptual thinker and deep understanding of Customer Experience (CX) principles, frameworks and methodologies.

  • Ability to bridge the worlds of product related KPI's with customer centric decisions and influence the GTM activity to deliver the best outcome.

  • Understanding, experience and knowledge regarding media, PR and alternative media spaces such as events / activations.
  • Is comfortable being uncomfortable, applying expertise in novel and ambiguous contexts to solve large, adaptive challenges whilst effectively managing through ambiguity and change.
  • Actively connects outside and inside ANZ to leverage latest thinking, providing practical/relevant ideas, improvements and fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Gets people excited about an idea, concept, product or service being offered. Carefully prepares arguments and presentations aHead of meetings.
  • Ability to galvanise a diverse group of people around a common mission.
