UNSW IT is part of the Operations Division at UNSW. The IT team at UNSW plays a critical role in enabling the University's teaching, research, and industry engagement. Would you be keen to make a difference and work in higher education ?

The Head of Technology Delivery will be accountable for delivering robust and reliable Technology operational services to all Faculties and Divisions of UNSW. This will include services within UNSW's own facilities, those provided by partners and cloud service providers. The role is responsible for leading the Technology teams within UNSW IT to deliver high quality services for all our technology operations. The Head of Technology Delivery will be responsible for driving the development of long-term application and technology platform vision and ensuring successful delivery and implementation. In addition, the role will support the sustainable development of a professional, high performing team who deliver industry leading technology platforms and services to UNSW. This position will report into Director of Customer Service Delivery and will lead a team of specialist technology professionals and service providers
Who You Are:
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology (IT), another related discipline and/or an equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
- Extensive experience (10 years +) leading increasingly complex IT Operations teams.
- Qualifications and/or extensive experience in IT models, concepts and frameworks including: ITIL with exposure to SIAM, ITSM and other IT management frameworks, Modern Cloud and Software management frameworks including DevOps, Agile and Adaptive Software Development.
- Experience developing and delivering IT services that put Customers first, with a demonstrable commitment to meeting the needs and expectations of internal and external customers. Strong customer empathy and the ability to advocate for customer needs is essential.
- Demonstrated experience transforming legacy IT environments to a multi-cloud operating model.
- Demonstrated experience leading a large team through a complex IT change and transformation program.
- Demonstrated experience offering Hybrid Infrastructure as a software product with high levels of Automation, Consistency, Scalability, Security, Compliance, Operational Efficiency and Cost Control. This will have been achieved while also delivering great Customer experiences vis Self-Service Portals.
- Extensive experience defining and delivering clear infrastructure product strategies, visions, and roadmaps aligned with UNSW's goals and best practice. A proven ability to prioritize features and requirements based on customer value, business impact, and resource constraints is also essential.
- Proficiency in leading and optimising modern work practices for cloud-native design, automating infrastructure-as-code (IaC) provisioning , configuration management, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
- Strong awareness of IT industry standards for Security, Data Protection and Accessibility and ability to translate into technical requirements.
- Advanced ability and experience managing internal and external supply chains for the delivery IT services.
- Highly developed communication skills with an ability to articulate complex technical issues into business-focused terms and adapt communication to a variety of stakeholders.
- Strong awareness of IT industry standards for Security, Data Protection and Accessibility and ability to translate into technical requirements.
- Advanced interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with a proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders to define the best approach to achieve business and user objectives.
- Ability to collaborate and negotiate with teams outside of your control to ensure the successful operation of the data centre. This includes Facilities Management, and design, capacity planning and server teams.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
