Kelso High Campus has an enrolment of 780 students, including 140 Aboriginal students and a Support Unit meeting the needs of 70 students in 9 classes. At Kelso High Campus there is an emphasis on understanding the individual needs and backgrounds of students and families, supported by positive relationships and teaching and learning that is responsive to student needs. We are committed to building a strong learning culture based on high expectations that promotes individual excellence within an inclusive and supportive environment. Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Approval to teach English 7-12 with demonstrated evidence of successful inclusive teaching practices that respond to the needs of diverse learners, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, students with disabilities and those from low SES backgrounds.
Demonstrated capacity to lead a faculty with vision and purpose including modelling best-practice teaching and learning strategies to improve student outcomes based on school strategic directions.
Demonstrated capacity to effectively lead the implementation of the K-10 and 11-12 English curriculum, including developing and evaluating high-quality teaching and learning programs with best-practice assessment strategies.
Demonstrated capacity to lead in a manner that nurtures personal wellbeing, whilst maintaining a culture of high expectations.
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
