SalaryGilgandra High School is an inclusive, culturally diverse rural school residing on Wiradjuri, Kamilaroi and Wailwan Land, with a student body of 230, of whom 30% identify as Aboriginal. Gilgandra High School has a strong tradition of academic, agriculture and sporting success, with skilled teachers with a broad range of experience who value academic excellence and cater for all student learning styles and abilities. Gilgandra High school has two Multi-Categorical classes
and one Emotional Disturbance class catering for students with special needs. The systems for student behaviour and learning are supported through the Wellbeing Framework and Wellbeing Hub (Bundyi Baayay), under pinning the strong student wellbeing ethos in the school. Students consistently achieve their desired post school options, including university placement, apprenticeships and traineeships.
Gilgandra High School has well-maintained facilities, including three trade-training centres, self-sustaining aquaponics unit, relationships with tertiary institutions and Wiradjuri language; providing an inclusive curriculum, ensuring student interests, academic levels and goals are supported. Our school has strong relationships with the feeder primary schools in the area who support our effective transition programs.
We welcome community involvement in our school and have an active parent body who, through their support, enrich our students' learning experiences and school culture. Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria:
- Approval to teach Mathematics 7-10 and willingness to teach Mathematics (Years 11-12) and/or Mathematics Extension 1 & 2.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire, develop and lead staff at all stages of their career through professional learning and evidence-informed, reflective teaching practices to promote high quality teaching, learning and assessment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the development and implementation of high quality syllabus-based curriculums, that are engaging and differentiated to improve achievement for all students including First Nations students.
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
The successful applicant may be eligible to receive a one-off recruitment payment of $20,000. (Conditions Apply)
A relocation support package of up to $10,000 will be available for eligible applicants.
