West Wyalong High School is a comprehensive rural education school in the northwestern part of the Riverina, situated on the lands of the Wiradjuri people, 155 kms Northeast of Griffith. The school serves the town of West Wyalong and surrounding villages in the Bland Shire. The enrolment 7 to 12 has ranged between 265-310 over the past 5 years. In 2024 we have a population of 270 students of which 55 identify as having an Aboriginal background and 22 students are EAL/D.
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Applicants must be approved to teach Mathematics with the capacity to lead an established Mathematics faculty to plan, implement and review curriculum and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning programs to enhance learning outcomes.
- Applicants must demonstrate capacity for strong faculty leadership with a focus on high impact professional learning that inspires and builds the capacity of teachers with a diverse range of skills and experiences.
- The successful applicant will be a visible leader, able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively as part of a broad school executive team to drive quality, evidence-based teaching initiatives related to the school’s strategic improvement plan.
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
