Position Information 

Wadalba Community School is a comprehensive Kindergarten to Year 12 Community School located in the Wyong local government area. It boasts a diverse curriculum with over 300 students in its primary school and more than 1,200 students in secondary school and approximately 139 Aboriginal students and 7 Support Unit classes. The school values positive partnerships with the Parents and Citizens' Association (P&C) and is an integral member of the Ngara AECG and collaborates closely with neighbouring primary and high schools as part of the Tuggerah Lakes Network and Wadalba Learning Community. Established in 2000, the school is relatively young but has quickly become known for its contemporary teaching and learning practices, and its commitment to drawing on expertise across K–12 levels. Our staff includes an Executive Leadership Team made up of 16 leaders (4 Assistant Principals Primary, 12 Head Teachers secondary, 3 Deputy Principals secondary, 1 Deputy Principal Primary, 1 Deputy Principal Inclusion and Support, 1 Principal).

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 

  1. The ability to drive student learning through a deep understanding of curriculum reform in HSIE whilst ensuring monitoring and compliance requirements are met.

  2. Demonstrated success in teaching and leading HSIE with the knowledge and awareness of the diverse range of HSIE subjects.

  3. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and effectively to lead staff to successfully embed high-quality teaching, learning and assessment practices, resulting in improved student outcomes.

  4. The ability to work collegially across the school and wider community, to develop and implement Aboriginal Education policy and perspectives.

  
General Selection Criteria 

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
