This role is responsible for leading the development, implementation, evaluation and ongoing delivery of preventive health programs and interventions relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and Metro North Health Equity Strategy 2022-2025.

Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.

About the role

The Senior Health Promotion/ Public Health Officer is responsible for leading the development, implementation, evaluation and ongoing delivery of preventive health programs and interventions relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and Metro North Health Equity Strategy 2022-2025.  Provide strategic advice and analysis of preventive health strategies, policies and interventions at the state and national level. 

About you

This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Provide advanced expertise and leadership in the application of evidence, theory and judgement in planning, implementing and evaluating preventive health policy and interventions in a range of settings and across multiple clinical areas.
  • Provide independent high-level specialist and authoritative advice to senior and executive management, partners, and other stakeholders, including members of the public, to influence service improvement activities, strategic policy and delivery of complex and/or innovative preventive health interventions with minimal supervision.
  • Analyse and convey complex ideas and information to a range of stakeholders in relation to preventive health policy and reform across the Metro North Health and the entire Metro North community.
  • Facilitate the development of a suite of health promotion system reforms to position Metro North Health to more effectively respond to the increasing burden of chronic disease risk factors.
