About the Role:
Reporting to the Health & Safety Superintendent you will implement and enhance the Curragh Mine Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) while driving forward our Health, Safety & Training business plan. This position plays a vital role in incident investigations, analysing data to identify trends and proposing improvements to enhance overall safety performance within the Coal Handling Prep Plant maintenance and shutdown activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe work environment.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Provide health and safety training and induction programs for employees and contractors.
- Support the CHPP and Maintenance teams by advising on health and safety best practices and compliance matters.
- Manage and coordinate health and safety compliance during shutdowns, including planning, risk assessment, and contractor management.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend preventive measures
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation
Requirements:
- Experience working in a similar capacity with exposure to the mining or resources industry.
- ICAM investigation skills.
- Experience with facilitating risk assessment skills.
- Hold a Qualification or equivalent experience in WHS or a related field.
