Health & Safety Coordinator Full time – Permanent Abbot Point Operations (APO) is contracted by North Queensland Export Terminal (NQXT) to operate and maintain Australia’s most northern coal export Terminal, located at Abbot Point. The Terminal is situated in North Queensland, 25 kilometres north of Bowen, between the coastal cities of Townsville and Mackay. With the systems, people and infrastructure to handle the Terminal’s nameplate coal export capacity of 50 million tonnes annually, APO helps deliver Queensland coal to the world. APO requires a proactive and dynamic Health and Safety Coordinator to join our HSEC Team to drive health and safety systems and programs and advise on all facets of health and safety activities. Reporting to the HSEC Manager, in this crucial senior position, you will play a pivotal role in driving APO's health and safety culture and outcomes, in accordance with APO’s business strategy. The successful candidate will have the ability to perform strongly in a fast-paced environment and possess excellent stakeholder engagement skills. To be successful in this role, you will manage the following key accountabilities: Deliver and monitor injury management services, documenting all processes, maintaining accurate records and advising the Manager on system improvements Oversee occupational health processes, ensuring adequate documentation, monitoring and education are in place Monitor the fitness for work processes, ensuring adequate documentation and capability are in place Deliver the health and wellbeing program, ensuring adequate documentation, development of annual initiatives Lead or provide direct support to incident investigations as required by the Incident Management System Lead or provide direct support to risk assessments as required by the Risk Management System Provide advice to business stakeholders on the application of all Health and Safety processes Provide support to the HSEC Manager in reviewing the Health and Safety Management System and identifying improvement opportunities Ideally, you will also have the following: Tertiary qualifications or Diploma in Workplace Occupational Health and Safety Five years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within a heavy industrial setting Strong knowledge of the Qld Workplace Health and Safety Legislation and Codes of Practice Qualified Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator and experience in effective injury management and return to work processes Proven ability to build and maintain professional and supportive relationships In return you will be rewarded with: Career development and exposure to opportunities across the organisation Competitive remuneration package Remote Area Housing Salary Sacrifice Relocation Assistance Work/Life balance to enjoy your leisure time surrounded by the beautiful Whitsundays The role is residentially based in Bowen, North Queensland.
