Collinsville Open Cut is located approximately 160km from Airlie Beach in Queensland, a town known as the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and Great Barrier Reef. Producing both metallurgical and term coal for the export market, the surface mine has a long life and is transitioning from a dragline strip to a truck and shovel terrace operation. Housing / accommodation assistance will be provided for the successful candidate.

Reporting to the Health Safety & Training Manager, you will provide support, coaching and mentoring to employees and line management on the site’s Safety and Health Management System. Your responsibilities will include:

• Act as a “risk specialist” with competence and confidence across multiple risk assessment methodologies
• Facilitate periodic reviews of the BBRA and subordinate risk assessments for fatal hazards using bowtie methodology
• Support departments in identifying and managing change to fatal hazard controls in line with evolving corporate, industry, and legislative requirements
• Facilitate risk assessments for Safety & Health Management System compliance (PHMP, SOP, MOP)
• Provide coaching and mentoring to workers and departments in areas including incident investigations, risk management, HRW verification, visible leadership and, critical control verification completion including the provision of evidence

Tertiary qualifications in OH&S is desirable together with extensive experience in an open-cut mining environment. Strong leadership, a team player and attention to detail and technical expertise is key to succeeding in this role.

The successful candidate will have the option to work a compressed 9-day fortnight roster. Your package will include a health & well-being reimbursement, and a competitive salary with a variety of salary sacrificing options.
