Wastech Engineering is a leading design, engineering and manufacturing company that services the waste management and resource recovery sectors throughout Australia and New Zealand.
With a continuously developing ISO 45001 certified Safety Management System, the immediate contribution of an experienced Safety & Compliance professional, with a demonstrated strong track record of success in safety leadership and driving safety culture within the workplace, is sought to join the Wastech Team in the role of OH&S Business Partner.
Ideal candidates will have formal tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety and a minimum of 5 years professional experience within an Engineering, Construction or Manufacturing industry. Experience in the waste management or recycling industries will be beneficial (but not essential).
The role of OHSBP routinely provides compliance & regulatory advisory and support to all levels of the organisation from governance through to in field operations, with review & generation of OHS metrics and reporting being a routine aspect of ensuring consultation & participation.
Key to the role is the development and implementation of policies & procedures relating to safety, health and environmental systems, interpreting legislation and codes of practice, day to day management of aspects of training design/delivery in a wide range of disciplines, championing and verifying positive performance indicators to maintain a safety culture supporting dedicated stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have working knowledge or formal training in hazard & incident reporting systems (ICAM, Taproot etc) and will provide ongoing support to internal stakeholders in maintaining structured incident investigation and incident management reports through to expediting and monitoring the performance of corrective actions.
Candidates should have a good working knowledge of MS Office applications and previous experience in the operation of Contractor management System Software and principles is highly regarded.
Experience with ISO 45001:2018 - compliant Safety Management Systems is essential to the role, with proven application of the principles of both internal audit and preparing stakeholders for external audit. Formal experience in ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems & ISO 14001:2015 is also highly desirable.

Key Selection Criteria
Experience
- OHS Professional with 5 years’ experience in Engineering, Construction or Manufacturing industry. Applicable experience will be considered.
- Additional practical trade industry experience or operator competencies desirous.
Qualifications
- Minimum Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (preferred).
- Demonstrable internal audit competency
- Level II First Aid & CPR Training
