Axis Hire is currently looking for a part time Health and Safety Officer to join our dynamic team at our Bunbury based Workshop. The Health and Safety Officer will be required to work closely with our management group, engage and educate staff, and play an integral role in the promotion of a strong health and safety culture across our sites.
The ideal candidate will be a people focused safety leader, who thrives in an environment developing people and systems to look at safety as more than just a box to tick. The ability to coordinate and lead Risk Assessments and Training including participation in work activities and documentation is essential. Experience dealing with Workers Compensation Claims and processes will also be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support with the implementation of company Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Design and implement Health and Safety improvement initiatives.
- Assist sites with the implementation of company WHS policies and procedures.
- Assist with audits, inspections, and observations to ensure sites are meeting the requirements of WHS & E legislation and company policies and procedures.
- Coordinating rehabilitation and return to work programs in alignment with the companies return to work policies.
- Liaise with the workers compensation insurers on open claims and progress on premium renewals.
- Ensure the company induction and training program is implemented, using the internal and external resources.
- Assist on incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Developing and reviewing Work Instructions, SOP’s, SWMS and Risk Assessments
The successful applicant will be required to have
- Minimum 2 years experience in a safety position
- Understanding of RTW processes and injury management.
- Tertiary qualification or Diploma in Work Health & Safety is essential.
- Understanding of manual handling and risk assessment.
- Intermediate to advanced MS Office, Word, Excel.
- Ability to multi task with excellent time management skills.
- Ability to assist in maintaining, updating and overseeing all OH&S information as it changes in State and Federal Legislation and ensuring all Policies and Procedures comply.
- Willingness to get involved, be agile and engage the team.
This role is offered on a part time basis working between 2.5 - 3 days per week to be discussed with the successful applicant.
