St John Ambulance (Vic) has been saving lives and delivering care and compassion throughout Victoria for 140 years. Our volunteers and our staff are the lifeblood of everything we do. We are currently recruiting for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to provide assistance to the HSW Manager to ensure that our people are adapting a safety mindset across all aspects of their working and volunteering life.
The Opportunity
The People and Culture team are a welcoming, friendly and helpful team of HR professionals. The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor will work collaboratively with managers, employees and volunteers on a variety of people related policies, procedures and practices for all areas of St John Ambulance Victoria (SJAV). You will build relationships within the People & Culture team and with the broader SJAV community enabling you to assist and support Health Safety & Wellbeing objectives. You will model the values and behavioral expectations that support a safe, diverse and inclusive environment for everyone associated with SJAV.

Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with Managers on all aspects of Return to Work, rehabilitation initiatives, reasonable adjustments, injury prevention and safe return to work after workplace injury
- Assist in the investigation process of incidents, near misses and unsafe work practices
- Record & maintain Workcover claims via the injury management system
- Prepare reports and correspondence related to RTW management status
- Support management and staff in complying with their legislated HSW duties and responsibilities
- Develop, implement & review systems with the HSW Manager to promote workplace health & safety
- Coordinate training & guidance for all Health & Safety representatives
- Participate & support internal & external audits to ensure compliance with the HSW plan & legislation
- Demonstrated knowledge & experience in Occupational Health and Safety,
- Relevant tertiary qualification in OH&S with accreditation as a Return-to-Work Coordinator
- Well developed interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate & work with managers to bring about change
- Strong attention to detail & responsive, proactive attitude
- Demonstrated experience & knowledge of various health and safety systems and processes
- Significant experience in conducting WHS investigation and resolving WHS issues within the workplace
