We are looking for a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor to drive the health, Safety & Wellbeing at the operational and corporate level and establish and maintain a safety-first culture.
The Role You Could Play:
Working within the People & Education team, your role will partner with frontline business leaders to support MECCA’s store network and our distribution centre to help design and deliver various health, safety and wellbeing initiatives aligned to risk. Ideally, you will have experience in both return to work and safety, however if you are a Return to Work Specialist, we will happily invest in the professional development to upskill in safety so this person can work across both facets.
Your responsibilities will also see you:
- Support workplace health and safety activities and ensure WHS legislation and regulations are prudently met
- Provide advice and support to leaders across our business for injury/incident management including the development of return to work plans
- Conduct and lead safety audits, risk assessments and risk control activities
- Conduct investigations on safety incidents, analyse finding and support the implementation of corrective and prevention strategies
- Ensuring Safety communication and consultation processes are effectively implemented
- Support a proactive safety culture through effective implementation of a safety management system in collaboration with and the Health, Safety & Well-being Manager
- Support the development and improvement of safe work processes and procedures
- Develop and provide training materials to build WHS capability
- Support with monitor WHS compliance training i.e. first aid, fire warden, and internal training
- Previous experience in an office-based role and technology-savvy
- Exposure to crisis management (preferred)
What You Will Bring:
We are looking for an autonomous and motivated person, who can adapt to changing environments, work flexibly and stay calm under pressure. You are articulate, process-driven and have excellent attention to detail. You will have a solid understanding of all workplace health and safety legislation and standards. Additionally, you will be able to demonstrate;
- Experience working within an WHS function ideally within a warehouse/and or retail environment
- Experience formulating and making robust and trusted recommendations to management
- Experience facilitating and managing injury/incident management and return to work plans
- Certificate IV or higher in Occupational Health and Safety or demonstrated knowledge and experience sufficient to meet the requirements of the role
There is a possibility that this role will be based at our Distribution Centre in Tullamarine for up to two days a week.
