BGT is looking for a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor to join our team. We are a local not for profit organisation that has been operating for 35 years in the Ballarat region.
The Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor will support departments by providing guidance and advice to ensure a safe and compliant working environment for our employees, students, clients, apprentices and trainees in line with legislative requirements.
You will provide expert advice on measures to minimise hazards and risks. The role will report to our General Manager and Business Development Manager.
Position tasks:
- Provide advice and support in managing the internal work health and safety function.
- Provide support to our Safety & Maintenance Officer in overseeing host employer work health and safety requirements.
- Review internal and external WHS policy and procedures to ensure they are current and compliant.
- Manage all internal WHS audits and reporting to ensure BGT compliance and best practice.
- Manages WHS Committee.
- Manages Emergency Planning Committee (EPC) for BGT/Barkly Square.
- Maintain safety software (WorkMetrics).
- Provide detailed end of month reporting to the General Manager and the Business Development Manager.
- Research and implement work, health, safety and wellbeing training programs for BGT staff.
- Facilitate WorkCover/RTW processes & practices.
- Liaise and maintain relationship with CoRE (to develop projects).
- Monitor and maintain child-safe compliance.
- Undertake other related duties as directed by the General Manager and Business Development Manager.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Experience in developing WHS systems and processes.
- Extensive experience in hazard identification, risk assessment and control analysis.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the WHS/OHS legislation and requirements.
- Experience in a like role, with reporting and system improvement responsibility.
- Highly effective communication skills.
