About Blackwater Mine:
Situated 73 kilometres south-east of Emerald, Blackwater is the second-largest open-cut metallurgical coal mine in the Bowen Basin. This long-life operation began in 1967 and has grown to become one of the longest coal mines in the Southern Hemisphere, with a strike length of 80 kilometres. Blackwater extracts high quality metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market using truck and shovel, as well as loader and dragline.
About the Role
With our new acquisition of Blackwater Mine, we are seeking a skilled Health Specialist who will support and provide subject matter advice to our Mine Operation. This is a strategic role which will drive improvement and positive changes to the health and wellbeing of our workforce.
Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager - Blackwater, you will implement Group and site wide health and hygiene standards, systems and programs.
What You’ll Do
Providing leadership in Health and Hygiene on-site, the role will deliver;
- A shared vision and commitment to an industry-leading health and hygiene programs
- Subject matter advice at Blackwater, improving performance towards getting all our people home safely
- Facilitation of health and hygiene improvement strategies at Blackwater.
- Case management e.g. Work and non-work related Injury and illness case management, Fitness for Work case management
- Actively ensuring the requirements of the Coal Mine Worker’s Health Scheme are met
- Close and supportive relationships with QLD Group WHS. ensuring best practice health and hygiene management is championed and prioritised
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Health discipline e.g. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing
- Knowledge of WHST legislation and statutory requirements in QLD
- Experience in Occupational Health roles and heavy industry / mining is preferred
- Experience in Injury and Case Management and Classification, Health and Well-Being program delivery
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, drive continuous improvement, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
