- Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 4pm.

About the role
As the Heavy Rail Plant Operator, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Asset Management – Maintenance group.
The purpose of the Heavy Rail Plant Operator is to operate the truck and plant in the heavy category and assist with the manual labour involved with laying, aligning, repairing, and maintaining railway tracks.
Key Accountabilities include:
- This position is required to drive the truck and plant in the heavy category.
- Carry out Manual labouring tasks for the renewal and/or maintenance work related to the rail infrastructure.
- Participate in the replacement or renewal of track work and crossing work materials i.e., sleepers, rail, ballast, fastenings etc.
- Safely operate the plant and trucks as required.
- This position may require you to work overtime, work away from home, nightshift and public Holidays as part of a regular pattern or roster cycle.

- Hold a certificate II Rail Infrastructure or be willing to obtain within the first 6 months of employment.
- A valid Heavy Combination (HC) Truck License and excavator/backhoe ticket is ESSENTIAL.
- Experience and tickets on other plant including Loader, telehandler, and forklift is advantageous.
- The ability to work away from home, Overtime and on call when required.
