Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
Location: Margate and Petrie
Requirements:
- Current HR class driver's licence.
- Minimum of a recognised trade certificate as a Heavy Vehicle motor mechanic/diesel fitter.
- Holder or willingness to obtain within 12 months of appointment, a Queensland recognised Road Worthy Examiners Licence for Heavy Commercial up to 16t GVM, Light Commercial, Passenger, and Heavy / Light Trailers.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily preventative and corrective maintenance, including mandatory annual safety inspections and certificates of inspection (COI) for council's fleet, encompassing heavy and light vehicles, plant, and small equipment assets.
- Deliver regular onsite repair and servicing as necessary.
- Conduct steel fabrication and welding tasks.
- Interact effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality service delivery outcomes.
- Provide guidance and support to apprentices when required.
- Ensure the safe, efficient, and effective utilization of tools, equipment, and facilities within the mechanical workshop, in line with Council's workplace health and safety policies, procedures, and practices.
Additional Information:
- Participate in an afterhours call-out roster as needed.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required.
