Casual Disability Support Worker

About the Role
We are hiring Female Disability Support worker with Nursing and palliative care experience to join our motivated and supportive team in a casual capacity.
A rewarding and challenging role, as a disability Support Worker, you will be instrumental in providing support for our participants and making positive impact to their quality of life.
You may be supporting someone with daily tasks within their own home, or a SIL house or on community access support such at medical appointments, social outing, shopping, or family visits.
Our participants may have BOC, high needs, mental health issues, wheelchair bound. It is vital that you understand how to support their self-determination.
Shifts available from Mon – Sunday. AM and PM including Sleepover shifts. Shifts available in Loganlea and Waterford West.
Key Responsibilities
- Personal care: dressing, toileting, and showering
- Supporting a client with Huntington disease
- Domestic duties including meal preparation, shopping, housekeeping, and cleaning
- Assist Participants with medications.
- Hoisting & Manual handling
- High intensity support activities
- Behaviour support for Participant with Mental Health, PBSP and ADS
- Community Access
- PEG feeding, Diabetics
Skills & Experience
- Prior experience supporting clients with disabilities highly desirable
- Experience in managing continence aid
- Relevant nationally recognised qualification highly desirable
- Must have a QLD driver's licence and own reliable transport
- Current Paid employee Blue Card (or willing to obtain before employment)
- Current Paid employee Yellow Card/NDIS Worker Clearance (or willing to obtain before employment)
- Current First Aid & CPR (or willing to obtain before employment)
- NDIS 'Worker Orientation' module (or willing to obtain before employment)
- Full Australian working rights
- Smart phone with internet access
- Proof of vaccination against COVID-19
- It is preferred (but not essential) that applicants have attained relevant qualification or are studying disability related qualifications (as per position description)
- Remain calm under pressure, identify risk factors and make sound decisions.
- Two current (within the past 2 years) professional references from a supervisor will be required
