Vitrinite Pty Ltd is a privately owned company holding an extensive strategic coking coal tenement portfolio within Queensland’s world-class Bowen Basin. Our assets are situated among the world's best-known operating mines, infrastructure and proven economic resources.
We are undertaking extensive exploration efforts within our holdings, identifying new deposits of premium coals in the basin as well as investing heavily in ground breaking Highwall Mining (HWM) Technology.
Vitrinite’s first Gainwell Engineering (CAT) GMH300W Highwall Miner is soon to be delivered to our Vulcan Mine Complex with site coal production planned to start in the third quarter of 2024.
A unique and exciting opportunity exists to be part of Vitrinite’s new Highwall Mining Operations Team. Being the first of its kind in Australia you could be part of an innovative team that sees the start of a safe, long term, high output Mining operation.

Vitrinite is renowned for our facilities, with our HWM Team to occupy the newly built resort style accommodation, boasting exceptional modern facilities in a desirable location with minimal on road travel required during roster.
The Roles:
We are currently seeking the following multi-skilled operators and trades to join our high performing HWM Team, located in the Bowen Basin.
- Mechanical trades
- Boilermakers
- Electricians
- Fixed and mobile plant operators
Successful candidates will report to the Production Manager and are responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the HWM system and support equipment, including front end loaders, telehandler and service vehicles.
Roster: Positions offered on a 7:7 roster, rotating DS NS.
About the candidate:
We are looking for individuals to join our HWM Team with;
- Effective time management
- Ability to work autonomously and within a small mining team
- A positive attitude and flexibility
- Great communication and reporting skills
Essential criteria:
- Understanding of the Open cut mining environment with proven experience
- Fixed and/or mobile heavy plant experience
- Compliance to SHMS systems
- STD11
- CBM
Desirable criteria:
- Previous Highwall Mining experience
- Trade certificate
- Open cut RII’s and previous transcript
Other Requirements
Successful candidates:
- May be required to complete background screening which may include a criminal check and validation of qualifications.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening.
