Greyhound Racing in Queensland has entered an exciting new phase in 2024 with the amalgamation of the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club and Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club to form the Queensland Greyhound Racing Club (QGRC). In late 2024 the QGRC will commence transitioning its operations to The Q greyhound racing facility located in Yamanto south-west of Ipswich.The Club promotes a family-friendly and balanced workplace, with flexibility in work patterns to suit your life commitments. The position is initially based in our Brisbane Office at Albion Park Raceway and will relocate to The Q during 2025.This position is responsible for the implementation of strategies to achieve the goals of the Club Strategic Plan and Business Plan.Operational Management

• Oversee raceday staff including performance management and rostering
• Management of track compliance reporting
• Development of race programming and feature event calendar
• Coordinate racing carnival and feature race operations
• Raceday management including reconciliation of tote and food and beverage operations
• Management of external contractors and suppliers
• Oversee WHS program for Track and Raceday Staff
• Management of training and development of staff.

Facilities Management

• Supervision of preventative maintenance and track preparation programs.
• Management of facility maintenance items in Club jurisdiction.
• Development of capital works projects and submissions.

Marketing Management

• Develop & implement a marketing and communications plan aligned to the strategic plan.
• Development and execution of brand communications; advertising, public/media relations, promotions, and events.
• Plan and implement strategies to capture existing and new business to increase sales
• Develop and implement strategies to increase general attendance at major race meetings.
• Utilise market research and databases to pursue new target markets including associations/social/sporting clubs and corporate and government businesses.

Events Management

• Coordinate feature race events in consultation with Food and Beverage department
• Manage all event operations and budgets

Publications/website Coordination

• Oversee and prioritise all design and publishing activity.
• Production and design of promotional material for special events
• Overall responsibility for the presentation, functionality and content of Club website and social media channels.

Selection CriteriaPlease address all selection criteria in your written application

• Extensive experience in the racing and/or sports industries.
• Sound knowledge of greyhound racing.
• Sound understanding and application of marketing strategy in the sports industry.
• Proven event management experience.
• Demonstrated experience in negotiating & managing external marketing supplier relationships including but not limited to advertising & media agencies, design houses and print management.
• Strong project management skills & ability to manage conflicting priorities.
• Ability to analyse business requirements & propose innovative solutions.
• Strong verbal & written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a diverse and complex range of stakeholders including members and commercial partners.
• Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline preferred.

Hours of Work

• The Club conducts eight race meetings per week from at the Albion Park Raceway and Ipswich Showgrounds. The position will initially be based at Albion Park Raceway, with the need to have a presence across both venues. Once The Q is fully operational, the position will be based at Yamanto. Due to the nature of the position some evening and weekend work is required. The position allows for flexible working hours based around the needs of the Club and our clients.
