AddressOur client operates a state of the art dermatopathology laboratory offering a comprehensive range of histopathology and specialised diagnostic testing services. The laboratory provides a service to hospitals and clinic across Australia.
About the role
An opportunity exists for two experienced Histology Scientists to work within a highly skilled dedicated team of professionals.
This position can be offered full-time or part-time.
Your duties will include:
- Performance of specimen reception and accessioning duties
- Non-complex cut-up, embedding and microtomy of tissue specimens.
- Perform and special staining of slides including immunochemistry.
- Allocation of slides to pathologists
- Maintain levels of solutions, fluids and wax used in various areas of the department.
- Operate, calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
- Perform other duties as directed by the laboratory supervisor.
To be successful in this role, you will be expected to have the following:
- Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent. Overseas qualifications must be Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS) assessed.
- At least 3 years’ experience working in a Histology laboratory.
- Demonstrated experience in diagnostic Anatomical Pathology with competency in tissue handling, tissue processing, microtomy, embedding and histology staining techniques.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Ability to adhere to established procedures.
